- BACHELOR OF ARCHITECTURE (B.ARCH)
The Bachelor of Architecture is a five-year full time professional degree programme accredited by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi - a statutory body of Government of India that regulates Architectural education in India. The focus of the Degree Programme is the teaching of architectural design through studio and community based projects. The projects involve the application and integration of the knowledge and skills acquired from supporting courses. Critic sessions will form part of the studio procedure in teaching. Support courses include formal lectures, followed by seminars, market surveys, site visits, workshops and tutorials. In addition to design, key areas of B.Arch. programme are environmental design, urban design, building technology, computer aided design, history and theory landscape architecture, building conservation, project management, sustainable development and people/environment studies.
It is headed by the Principal, Ar. Santhosh John, B.Arch; M.S (BITS), F.I.I.A, who has good experience in professional practice with well updated Educational / Teaching background. His clear vision and stern determination helps the mould the students into budding architects. He is also an Approved Valuer and Consulting Architect to many educational, business concerns and banks. He also is pursuing his Ph.D in sustainable buildings in the CUSAT( Cochin University of Science and Technology).
Ar. Sudha. H (Professor in Design Chair) is the Academic Coordinator, who is also well experienced practicing architect and consultant to various educational, business concerns, institutions and banks. Having good professional and teaching experience, She coordinates the department with her high talents, keen devotion and dedicated efforts. Well-qualified and competent Associate Professors and Assistant Professors with good teaching skill,along with eminent architects having good experience in the field are handling classes forvarious subjects. An eco- friendly atmosphere is created here to provide excellent architectural training and education. The students are well-guided and encouraged to participate in various Design competitions ( by NASA and other events) and getting good achievements. Well-furnished class rooms, design studios( drawing halls), seminar hall, staff rooms and well equipped structural lab, virtual lab, workshops, library, and computer center etc. are provided, aiming in high quality architectural education and training.
The Course curriculum is divided into semesters and a total of 10 semesters across 5 years. After the successful completion of 6 semesters the students are to attend practical training at a reputed Architectural office. The training is for a period of the 7th and 8th semesters after which they come back to college to complete the balance 2 semesters. The final semester is devoted to completing the thesis.
In general the course has two formats of teaching:-
